I am trying Finlay with the harness again as he pulls so much on his slip lead he keeps choking himself. He hates the harness and runs away as soon as I pick it up. We have tried putting it on him and leaving it on for a while - not going for a walk - giving him treats. He just lies down flat as if he has a weight on his back and does not move until you take the harness off.
My nephew Colin came yesterday and he tried it with the same result. He then took him out for a walk and as you can see he walked perfectly. With me he just sits down and tries to chew the harness under his chin!!
I will persevere!! I am in charge!! I will not let Finlay win!! LOL!!
@danette No I haven't. I took Finlay out this afternoon on the harness and was much more successful. He did stop a few times and try to shake it off but on the whole he walked properly. It is much better than the slip collar as he didn't choke. When we got home he came in the front door and sank to his tummy and refused to move until I took it off!!
We have a similar problem. Have switched to a "walking harness" where the leash hooks onto the front (chest). Also switching to a softer mesh (conventional) harness helped. We alternate the two so Peli (The Puller) gets used to both.
Great to see him up and about again Pam, must be a relief. I've tried several harnesses with Maggie and am about to try yet another version. She's a terror at pulling.
