2016 02 10 - The Bridge

It was lovely walking round the Castle Ashby gardens in the sunshine this morning. What a treat!! It even felt quite warm as we were sheltered from the wind. Finlay loves it here as he can come off the lead and run through the woods.

I liked the reflection of the bridge and also the beautiful tree (a Birch Bark Cherry) - what fabulous bark it looks like silk.

Best on black.

Uploaded for my extras album

Lovely to see this on the PP - so pleased you liked it too!!
So nice to see daffodils! The reflection is perfect. Do you know what kind of tree that is with the unusual bark?

Beautifully composed shot Pam and I too thing the reflection is great. :)

Stunning shot. There is so much to look at from the beautiful barked tree and daffodils to the lovely bridge and it's reflection. Then the path leave you wondering what is around the bend.

@tracys I am told it is a Birch Bark Cherry Tree. Such a beautiful colour on the bark - it almost looks like silk.

Beautiful capture of such a pretty looking place.

Lovely. I too like the colour of the tree trunk, it's like silk!

Wonderful scene an I love that tree too.

Oh, I DID take a quick breath as it came up on black! I love that tree! And what a beautiful spot to go for a walk! If I were to be there as a tourist, I'd gladly pay for a ticketed tour, and there you are enjoying it as a part of daily life!

The bark on that tree is incredible. Lovely scene and can understand why Finlay loves it.

What is this tree bark, its like rubies and ribbons!
February 10th, 2016
Love your composition. That's a cool tree.

Wonderful composition, reflections, textures

Such a lovely scene Pam, so many nice things to see and that tree is fabulous. I envy your nice walk with sunshine, last time I went out of the house (yesterday) I got a face full of hail, not nice!
February 10th, 2016
Can you walk to this place or do you have to drive? I would go there every day especially if you can let the dog off!
February 10th, 2016
@kandkids I am told it's a Birch Bark Cherry - it is very beautiful!

@maggiemae Castle Ashby is a 15 minute drive from home It's ok to go in winter as you have to pay £4 for parking and that lets you also enter the gardens. In summer they charge £5.50 per person to enter the gardens. Definitely a winter walk!!
February 10th, 2016
That's not a big drive but four pounds! Heck!
February 10th, 2016
@maggiemae It makes my sister mad when they charge such enormous prices to visit stately homes etc. She is not fan of the Monarchy and whenever we visit somewhere like this it starts her off!! It's now a standing joke in the family -"don't mention the queen!!" If I want to go somewhere beautiful I know I will have to pay - that's life isn't it?

Lovely shot and the bark on the tree looks fabulous, such a gorgeous colour.
February 10th, 2016
That looks so lovely and springlike, I love Birch Bark Cherry, can't resist hugging them!
February 10th, 2016
Actually, amazing on black! FAV!

Gee, I'd be sticking to winter visits too. This shot does look fantastic on black Pam, it shows off the bark on that fascinating tree. Good to see the daffies too, maybe spring isn't tooooo far away.

Great lines, reflections, color

@golftragic our mild winter has confused all the plants Marnie! The spring plants are out too soon. They say we might get snow this weekend so we still have a long way to go with winter!
February 11th, 2016
@pamknowler No doubt in my mind about changing climate. Our plants are very confused too. We had the coolest January on record, just getting ripe tomatoes, usually have them around Xmas. Apart from the recent deluge we've had very little rain for about six months, we've had equinoctial gales at times they shouldn't be, etc, etc. Could go on and on, but will spare you.

Wonderful capture :)

Such a lovely bridge, but what caught my eye was that lovely tree trunk. I want to reach out and touch it.
February 11th, 2016
Lovely! I want to go there!
