It was lovely walking round the Castle Ashby gardens in the sunshine this morning. What a treat!! It even felt quite warm as we were sheltered from the wind. Finlay loves it here as he can come off the lead and run through the woods.
I liked the reflection of the bridge and also the beautiful tree (a Birch Bark Cherry) - what fabulous bark it looks like silk.
Best on black.
Uploaded for my extras album
Lovely to see this on the PP - so pleased you liked it too!!
Stunning shot. There is so much to look at from the beautiful barked tree and daffodils to the lovely bridge and it's reflection. Then the path leave you wondering what is around the bend.
Oh, I DID take a quick breath as it came up on black! I love that tree! And what a beautiful spot to go for a walk! If I were to be there as a tourist, I'd gladly pay for a ticketed tour, and there you are enjoying it as a part of daily life!
Such a lovely scene Pam, so many nice things to see and that tree is fabulous. I envy your nice walk with sunshine, last time I went out of the house (yesterday) I got a face full of hail, not nice!
@kandkids I am told it's a Birch Bark Cherry - it is very beautiful!
@maggiemae Castle Ashby is a 15 minute drive from home It's ok to go in winter as you have to pay £4 for parking and that lets you also enter the gardens. In summer they charge £5.50 per person to enter the gardens. Definitely a winter walk!!
@maggiemae It makes my sister mad when they charge such enormous prices to visit stately homes etc. She is not fan of the Monarchy and whenever we visit somewhere like this it starts her off!! It's now a standing joke in the family -"don't mention the queen!!" If I want to go somewhere beautiful I know I will have to pay - that's life isn't it?
Gee, I'd be sticking to winter visits too. This shot does look fantastic on black Pam, it shows off the bark on that fascinating tree. Good to see the daffies too, maybe spring isn't tooooo far away.
@golftragic our mild winter has confused all the plants Marnie! The spring plants are out too soon. They say we might get snow this weekend so we still have a long way to go with winter!
@pamknowler No doubt in my mind about changing climate. Our plants are very confused too. We had the coolest January on record, just getting ripe tomatoes, usually have them around Xmas. Apart from the recent deluge we've had very little rain for about six months, we've had equinoctial gales at times they shouldn't be, etc, etc. Could go on and on, but will spare you.
