2016 02 27 Kingfisher mating

Today was a magical day!! I got up at 4.30am and went back to my old hunting ground in Surrey searching for a kingfisher shot. Within 5 minutes of arriving there were two kingfishers who stayed nearby for nearly 2 hours. The highlight for me was when I spotted them mating - WOW never seen that before!! My hands were shaking with excitement so it's a wonder any of the many shots came out!! LOL!!

Uploaded for my extras album
Wow, awesome capture.

Amazing shot especially since they are kingfishers, they are so elusive great capture! It seams to be the mating season

@padlock Clive these were taken at Loder Valley Reserve near Lakehurst Place. This was my old hunting ground when I lived in Redhill, Surrey. I used to spend hours in the hide watching and waiting to see the kingfishers. Often there would be a brief glimpse and that was it. Yesterday the two kingfishers were there the whole time very interested in each other. Just a magical morning!! I am taking Sarah @pixiemac sometime soon if you would like to join us.
