@jyokota Yes I was sitting in the bird hide with Sarah and Rosie watching all the wonderful activity going on! So many different birds it really is a special place and I was pleased to be able to take the girls there today.
@jyokota In this particular hide there are a number of hanging feeders plus a couple of covered tables. Then there have been more natural setups built for photographers - branches, logs etc. The whole area is surrounded by woods and the lake to one side. Every morning the feeders are filled and seeds are put out on the table or in this case put into the tree trunk. The birds are wild birds but they know where to come for the food. This reserve is a favourite with "birders" for the variety of birds seen. In the winter we get lots of birds who have flown in from overseas. If there is a rare one sighted the "twitchers" get very excited and they would travel for miles to see a rare bird.
@jyokota The other hides in this reserve are on the lakeside and no food is put out. Here you will see the many different ducks, swans, and other wading birds. A totally different experience.
