Song Thrush by parisouailleurs

Song Thrush

It's been a tough week end for the city people we are. Yesterday we found in the garden the bodies of 2 rabbits, a blackbird & a pigeon. Then in a bird house there was a family of garden dormice. Because we already have an invasion in the house my husband killed them, except the mother and 1 baby who escaped. Today I saw this young song thrush which seemed to have left the nest too early. Its parents came to see it but it's too young to fly... we're not sure it's gonna make it.
'Nature red in tooth and claw' - it's a tough world out there in the wild.

Ah, poor little guy! I think you need to leave it where it landed, because the parents also feed them outside the nest until they can fly...
I also posted a picture of a youngster.

@geertje when we arrived, he climbed on my husband's hand. We tried to feel him but didn't work, so we left water and seeds closed to him and left him. we saw 2 adults with him a while after. This is what we hope: that the adults will feed him till he can really fly!!

Really wonderful shot. Nice choice for b&w. I hope nature steps up and the little guy thrives against the odds. Keep us posted?

Great capture of this little guy. I hope he does okay. It sounds like an unfortunate weekend for the animals.

@luxvivens yes I know, I was thinking of you! we couldn't do anything because of Chamallow and our life in Paris.... the only good news was to see its parents coming back after we left him. At the ens of the day it was in the neighbourg's garden wich mean at least it could fly a little...

I am certain he will be fine as long as the parents do continue to feed him.

The parents will continue to feed the baby. The fledgling should be fine. Even before they fly, they often hop out of the nest. Unless the baby is injured, the parents will continue to do their job. It's wonderful snap.
