Had a brilliant day at the Black Country Museum in Dudley today.
There was so much to see and do and I’ve taken so many pictures that I’m spoilt for choice. This one is an old mangle in a boat repair yard shed, I don’t know why it was there but I liked that there were random objects dotted around as it made for great photo opps.
Fav just for the use of the word 'mangle'. My mother had one, fixed above a tub washing machine. Do they still do them ? Must check Amazon for "top-loading washing machine with integrated mangle".
An interesting vintage piece. My mother had a washer with a mangle like this at our summer house. I often think of the amount of work she did so her family could have a nice vacation home.
A lovely shot that brought back memories of my mum with her single tub electric washer and its mangle. She was quite scared of it, since she was used to a hand mangle before she got married. Fav!
A real blast from the past, we had one just like it!! We had a copper poss and a washboard to go with it, mam got her first Hoover washer in 1959 and did one of her first washes while she was in labour with my baby brother, she had a home birth. Thanks for the memory
