Catkins usually herald the start of spring in the UK, looks like mother nature is ahead of herself this year,
Catkins are found on the Hazel tree, the name derives from the Dutch word meaning kitten.

@peterlgrave Thanks Peter, Catkin are seed flowers of single sex hanging from the branches, they are cross pollinated by the wind:)

@stray_shooter Thank you Ron, Springs a little way off, cold air is coming on the jet stream from the USA, freezing temperatures and high wind plus snow forecast by mid week, great photo opportunities hopefully :)
