This is for Peggy @miata2u following her comments yesterday its the front view of Fishergate Baptist Church Preston in Lancashire, as you can see its up for sale any offers anyone?
From a genealogists point of view, it is really sad that so many of these old churches are being sold off. You travel to a pace to get a photo of a church where someone got married and whamo, its a MacDonalds. Doesn't look good in the family history story.
Lovely church and love the brickwork. Just loved Terry's comment @terryliv too. So true. I am writing my family history at the moment and thank heaven for Google and Google maps. I can find houses and churches without leaving the computer. I found a little chapel on Google maps in Yorkshire and it is now a curry house. One up from Macca's I suppose.
I had no idea you could buy a church! Do they just go out of business? I do know of one church in the U.S. that was converted to a microbrewery and pizza house. It's called Church Brew, and all of the tables were constructed from the pews and the kettles are located in the sanctuary. There's an idea for you!
@dide Thank you Dianne don't know what it will be used for but its a listed building, can't be demolished or the facade change only the internals can be altered and the change of use:)
@onewing Thank you Babs fewer and fewer people are go to church now, this seems to be the way they are getting used, in saying that Mosques and Mormon churches are always full and new ones are getting built:)
@stray_shooter Sad to say they do go out of use and get sold off, Rock FM the local radio station broadcast from an old church and about 15 miles away one is now used as an antique shop and very nice restaurant:)
