St Davids Church in the village of Holmbridge in West Yorkshire,
Brief history:- The foundation stone was laid on Monday 28 May 1838.
The new church was consecrated by the Lord Bishop of Ripon on the afternoon of Saturday 28 March 1840
@onewing Well spotted Babs, so does my camera, I always keep the time set correctly on my cameras just for reference, it helps if you wish to take the same subject at a different time of the day:)
Magnificent church and rendition.. Love the PoV and uncluttered surroundings. The colour of sandstone, in the sun, is so warm and friendly. i'm not surprised it attracted your attention.
@jorlam Thank you for your wonderful comments Jorlam they are always appreciated, a couple of points on uncluttered 1:- there was a gardener cutting the grass had to judge when he was hidden behind the grave stones and 2:- I cropped out a car entering the image on the right, I had waited to get both right but my timing was out with the car lol:)
@pcoulson Peter, i fully understand the convoluted lengths we have to go to, just for the chance of a 'perfect' image.. i understand how becoming a photographer increased my patience and my looking became seeing - seeing beyond the obvious. Living in the same geographical area i am also aware of how little space there can be, plus, just how many vehicles sit on road-sides each day. We have to MAKE our shots/images otherwise they are a snap-shot. imho, timing is always the crucial element in any photo.
So, i admired your lovely 'uncluttered' image which i knew had been contrived, one way or another.. it is a very simple looking image. And it is that, combined with excellent composition and editing, which is it's strength :-)
