The start of the World Supersport ended red flagged (stopped) on the first lap after one rider crashed and a following rider hit the bike sliding across the track, spilling engine oil along the racing line, this needed to be cleared before the race could be restarted, both riders walked away without injury.
My goodness, you really caught the action. Thankfully both riders were ok but I imagine the bikes were damaged. Fav for such great photojournalist images.
@spanishliz Thank you for your comment Liz, no one likes to see people get hurt at the racing the crowd always cheer and clap when the rider is back on there feet and walking away, at each marshals post is a doctor and they check over the rider before they can go back to there pit usually on the back with a marshal transport :)
@365projectorgheatherb Thanks Heather for your great comment we were all pleased to see them walk away, one of the riders walked passed me to get a lift back to the pits we all wished him well, he said he was fine but may have a few bruises tomorrow:)
@anniesue Thank you Annie-Sue this was the other rider that hit the fallen bike he slid along the track and stood up right in front of me, the marshal was sending him to see the marshal post doctor to get checked over:)
@onewing Thank you for your lovely comment Babs there were a few incidents over the weekend all the riders walked away non required a trip to A&E for fortunately:)
@pcoulson Many years ago I was in the timing tower at Mosport when we lost a rider. Everyone just felt crushed, even though we only heard the news over the comms, so I'm always relieved to see a rider (or driver) walk away from an incident.
