Another aircraft displayed at the Southport Airshow on Sunday, I processed it into B&W tones to make it look old. This ones for you Babs hope you like it.
XH558 was the last Vulcan in RAF service its final flight was on 23rd March 1993 at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.
Over 1998-2000 a team private individuals agreed to get it back flying, after spending 8 million pounds donated by the public, National Lottery and manufacturers it was granted a permit to fly on 3rd July 2008.
It has displayed every year since, it cost 1.3 million pounds a year to keep flying all raised privately.
This is the last remaining airworthy Vulcan in the world;)
@simta Спасибо за ваши прекрасные комментарии Татьяна, фотография была сделана в воскресенье, но я хотел, чтобы выглядеть старым обработаны таким образом в черно-белом изображении и границах странице альбома;)
@terryliv Thank you Terry, yes an amazing feat of extreme long range bombing, 6,800 nautical miles from RAF Waddington, round trip took 16 hours and mid air refueling 18 times;)
@peterlgrave Thank you Peter, when I got married I lived in Waddington village next to the RAF base, we used to see these every day and I'm so pleased this one is now flying, must admit my wife and I donated some money to get it airworthy;)
@miata2u Well thank you so much Peggy for you generous comments and Fav, it looked quite good in colour, but once I converted it to B&W and added the album style boarder it looked so much better, when I showed my wife Jenny it she just said wow and that does not happen often, Thanks again Peggy;)
Absolutely Peter. Thank you so much. Only just got chance to catch up after being out of action with Deb and the grandchildren here.
This shot takes me back to Scampton, where we were stationed in the late 60s and early 70s. When the Vulcans scrambled it nearly shook out our fillings from our teeth. Memories.
Reminds me too of the Falklands war, which David was involved with. Not such a happy memory from that time though.
Got to fav this shot.
@onewing Thank you for your generous comments and Fav, Babs pleased you liked it, as I said to Peter I live in Waddington village next to the base, used to get our fillings shaken on a regular basis lol, my brother was involve in the conflict as a helicopter pilot he did not enjoy the experience at all, our mother was terrified all throughout the war;)
