Well, we can see the feet and we can see the outdoors; now we need a picture of you in action! Must say it doesn't look welcoming. What are those bands around the trees?
@girlie Ha ~ I knew you were going to ask about the tree bands, Robin. The canopy of leaves from the big oak trees is a point of pride in the neighborhood. Years ago the infamous canker worm arrived on the scene and threatened to severely weaken or possibly kill the trees by their ravenous appetite for leaves ~ resulting in nearly complete defoliation of the trees. Hence the tree bands, strips of sticky fabric wrapped around the tree a few feet from the base. In the fall the wingless females climb from the tree base to the leaves to lay their eggs. The larvae hatch in the spring and begin to voraciously consume the leaves. It's a rite of autumn to band the big trees to capture the female canker worms and the bands are removed in June. In the past five years or so the bands have made an huge difference in the health of the big old trees and the beautiful leaf canopy has returned. Now all we have to worry about are limbs falling. :)
Haha, am I that transparent!? Thanks, Peggy, for that very interesting information. Glad to see that the trees seem to be flourishing as a result. An ingenious and probably relatively cheap way to cope with this menace.
I'm giving you props too! I didn't do so well....stayed out too late, drank too much, slept in and then went to lunch at Olive Garden...but I'm jumping on that treadmill today...that's for sure. I'm going to run 2 miles every day even if it kills me in the beginning!
You go girl !!! I too am going to try to keep up the work out routine. If you can do it on the bad days then you are hooked and the rest is smooth sailing.
Good luck with your fitess goals.
And well done on getting out and sticking to your resolution!
