This is Pax ~ Scrappy's (my big, bad street cat) beautiful little feral friend. I've been trying for nearly two years to domesticate her. She's getting a little bolder and has even been in the house briefly several times but freaks out and heads for the door. I've made her a bed with a warming pad on the side porch and her food bowls are there. Pax seems perfectly happy with that arrangement. It's so odd that in all the time I've been caring for her I've never touched her. She comes close but backs off if I put my hand out. But that's okay ~ she's my buddy.

Thanks for the comments! @Terry heh ~that's funny. :) And yes, that's her tongue...she's drinking water out of a bird bath on the wall.
@girlie Thanks, Robin. Out of a dozen shots I got one with a tongue and went with it. I agree about the natural state of cats. Their aloofness is actually one thing I find appealing.
Excellent shot. I tamed two feral cats and I can tell you it takes time, time and more time. Don't forget the patience.
She may never let you touch her but she trusts you enough to come near. I
As a crazy-cat lady, I love this one. Do the feral feeding thing, too. Someone suggested putting wet food at tip of a wooden spoon and "shortening" the handle as they get used to being *safe*. But, yes, patience and time. Fav, just btw.
