Greek Festival 2011

The Annual Yiasou Greek Festival is being held this weekend at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral down the street. Took this photo (with a too big lens and couldn't get far enough away to get a decent shot ~ and I'm not sure why the color is really off) earlier this morning while set up was still underway and before thousands of people/cars descended on the neighborhood. It's a very well attended event every year. People need their baklava fix. :)
this is like a shot from a news clip ...i like it !

Beautiful building & looks like an exciting occasion, the colours look lovely to me just how you would expect a Greek building to look like !!

@happypat Thanks, Pat...there seems to be a lot of blue to the windows and roof. Guess it's just the reflection of the sky.

@jenrobcarr I had heard about the large Greek population in Melbourne...Marcos Baghdatis, the Greek tennis player, has a huge following in Melbourne during the Australian Open. I'm not sure if Charlotte has such a big Greek population as much as there are a lot of people of all persuasions who appreciate Greek culture and FOOD. :)

This is a gorgeous building. A large Greek congregation bought a big plot of land down the street from my neighborhood and a big, beautiful building was planned, but I think the economy has put it on hold for now.
