You're Either a Clown Person...

or you're not. Looks like Harper isn't. Taken at 'Festival in the Park' this afternoon. She seemed to enjoy the music, art, people, ponies and rides...but clowns were merely tolerated. That's ok, Grammy's not really a clown person either. :)
She looks a wee bit dubious, but could she be any more adorable?!! I love her whole get-up...just precious!

I am not a clown person, that guy looks terrifying to me!!!! Did Harper cry? She looks a little worried in these photos. I think she's with me. Creepy!

Clowns are VERY scary - especially when you are a one year old. Great expressions you have captured on your beautiful little one.

@isisweiss I'm not much of a clown person either. Reading Stephen King's novel "It" years ago pretty much sealed the deal on clowns for me. Harper's a trooper ~ she didn't cry...but she wasn't loving the whole clown experience.

@barbsmith Clowns scare me...and I'm...well, I'm much older than Harper! :)

Beautiful collage Peggy and I too dislike clowns - and the clowns just don't get it that people are afraid of them. I watched the first few minutes of It and will never watch the full movie or read the book. I remember those eyes :( Harper is such a sweetheart with the flowers in her hair.

@peggysirk ~ OMG!!! That is the book that did me in too! I loved that book...I think I read all 1090 pages in 3 days because I just couldn't put it down!

@dora @redfl83 @spthorne Thanks, as always for your wonderful comments, Dora, Carole, and Simon!
Sorry to creep you out, Dora and Carole! Seems that clowns are more universally disliked than I imagined....apparently I'm not alone! :)

I'm with Harper too, horrible faces, but they are bright & colourful !! I love the head band she looks the better than all the clowns by a mile !! She is so sweet !!

@happypat Thanks, Pat! That's a little "princess" head piece we bought at the festival...it has trailing pink netting and ribbons flowing behind it. Wish I'd gotten more of it these shots. It was so cute.

bless Harper, she looks very freaked out! She's gorgeous

@Weezilou Thanks, Louise! Dubious is a good description of Harper's view of clowns. :)

@jenrobcarr Thanks, Jennifer! She was definitely not feeling the love as far as clowns were concerned.

True...it's those scary books that give clowns a bad name! I had a friend who actually went to Clown School and otherwise wasn't such a bad guy! But Harper looks adorable even though a bit skeptic..

No - fair enough. There are people with proper clown phobias - she's just looking like she can't see the point!
September 25th, 2011
No me neither, never have liked them, like your collage though. I wonder what a clown phobia is called??
September 25th, 2011
@samdan Lesley - I looked it up this morning...a fear of clowns is known as coulrophobia. Apparently it's not an uncommon fear. :)

I'm not sure she was scared of them, more like uninterested. It takes a lot to impress this girl :)

As I’ve gotten older I’ve become very suspicious of clowns. Who is really lurking behind that bright paint? :) I love the looks she’s giving the clown in the bottom photo.

Funny how the majority of people don't seem to find clowns funny - Me neither :-)
