I walked uptown this morning to get some shots of the Democratic National Committee convention activity taking place. I thought there would be a little more of a fun, party type atmosphere. But, it was very business-like with lots of traffic trying to navigate all the street closures, sidewalks that were narrowed with barricades for crowd control, and a very heavy police presence that was politely keeping people moving. In short, it wasn't conducive to photo taking...although I do understand the need for extra tight security during an event like this these days. So, this is all I came away with other than a nice walk. :)
Oh we can get a feel of the atmosphere anyway Peggy with these shots, it all looks rather exciting! We saw Michelle Obama speak yesterday...I thought she did very well!
Michelle got rave reviews here tho they said she'd been bundled off stage. Maybe they'd had an alert or were worried about the teapot party .... Looks very efficient - gone are the days when our politicians trip up and fall into the sea on their conferences - they've been the death ell for many a career!
It's kind of exciting to see the pics in this nice collage. Obama came to our fairgrounds to speak during the 2008 campaign and my daughter and I played Hooke to go to the rally. I was amazed by the military protection he had - very intimidating, but it was fun that we got to see democracy in
action. Too bad my camera was a tiny point and shoot then although I did manage to get some recognizable pics of him.
Great collage, did you get any of the dancing traffic directing Sheriffs? Loved seeing them in the news. Found your scary possum while browsing and was glad to see a fellow Charlottean on here. :)
