This little raccoon was making himself at home on the side porch. I heard all kinds of racket out there a few nights ago and looked out to see not one, but seven ~ yes, seven raccoons fighting over the food I put out for Scrappy's feral friend, Pax. By the time I got my camera, all of this little guy's friends had left and he was giving me his best innocent look.
Three good things:
1. It's my oldest daughter's (Elizabeth) birthday today
2. Ribs ordered from Sauceman's barbeque restaurant for 4th of July get together
3. Lunch today with my friend, Bev, and my mom
@judithg I love the way they look, Judith. But they are rather destructive, make a mess, and are a bit of a nuisance. I'd say that seven raccoons aren't cute...it's more like an infestation. Not sure what to do about it.
Hmmm that's tricky - quite hard to even try an electronic deterrent without upsetting Scrappy. I was told about a man who was getting visits from otters - I said I'd love that but it turned out that the man had £1000 (each) koi carp in his pond - briefly - after 3 days no koi and no otter....
What a cutie. I know they're pests, but I have a special place in my heart for them because I had one as a pet growing up. That said, I don't think I'd like to find seven on my porch!
A very cheeky face Peggy but seven is way too many..food outside leads to trouble!!! We have been putting wild bird stuff on the ground & have been inundated with magpies & horrible hooded crows, not the sort of birds we want at all!!
Lovely for mum to be having great girls lunches out!
Happy Birthday Elizabeth!!
@judithg@lisabell@happypat Yes, the solution lies in making food unavailable to these adorable rowdies. Pax won't set foot in the house and pretty much lurks in the shrubs until she sees food on the porch...guess I'll just start feeding her when I see her and not leave anything out overnight to attract the bandits. They are awfully cute though. I can see why you had one as a pet, Lisa. One of them tried to follow me back in the house the other night when I was going to get my camera. I almost let him in to see what he'd do. :)
