Winter in the South...Breaking News

You know that record setting cold weather is big news when my next door neighbor's burst water pipe brings out three fire trucks and news crews from two local TV stations. ☺

Three Good Things:
1. The fact that arctic cold actually *is* big news in the South
2. Our water pipes haven't frozen...fingers x'd and faucets dripping
3. Delivered our tax documents to the accountant
Oh my, how scary is that! I've never had anything like this happen even when I lived up north. Nice catch of the whole scene in your well put together diptych. Be safe & stay as warm as possible!

Wow - nicely captured. We are so very tired of the ice and snow in middle TN. Several cars stuck in our cul-de-sac - I'm not even trying to get out until Sunday when temps are promised to rise. Safe safe and warm and keep that water running - I am!

I think the pipes up North are much better insulated than those down our way, @cimes1. We've been keeping our faucets dripping and the cabinets under the sinks open to get some extra warm air. Hopefully that will see us through this crazy cold snap.

@linnypinny Just saw that you had more ice in your forecast for today, Lin. You stay safe and warm too!!!

Okay - so today's high is 14F/-10C here in lovely Upstate NY. Plus (minus?) wind chill which is probably a lot because it's very windy. I find it very amusing (sad?) that I went out without hat or gloves or boots and didn't mind it. Only for a few minutes at a time wiht the dogs or going from the car to the store. But the sun is shining and it is comforting.

@bpaquette I find it equally amusing/sad that I walked over to our accountant's office this morning when it was 18° and breezy. but sunny, WITH boots, gloves, scarf, and coat, and didn't die, cry, or curse. I'm stronger than I thought. ☺

hope al fire emergency didn't break out while the pipes were being fixed. i can't even begin to get my mind around the tv crews. were they filming dripping water?! very slow news day ... and a reminder of the eye opening opportunities of 365. . hope your pipes stay ok.

We have been seeing your terrible winter weather on out TVs today. It looks incredibly cold & you are so good at cold! I think you are so much better preserved than us too. Our pipes are always freezing up in the UK...not enough lagging etc! We make a fuss when it gets to minus anything! Cold & snow forecast for this weekend....watch us fuss! Keep wRm Peggy!

@peggysirk Ha ha Peggy. Not preserved I mean prepared!
