A Weekend of Protesting in Charlotte, NC

The city has experienced a weekend of civil unrest following the mistrial outcome of a local high profile officer-involved-shooting case. Protesters marched through uptown and staged 'die ins' in the streets. Traffic backups were problematic and three arrests were made for assault by rock throwers, but for the most part the protests were peaceful. Kudos to both CMPD, for letting dissatisfied citizens have their say, and to the citizens for keeping their protests non-violent.

Three Good Things:
1. Silence in the sky after two days of helicopters constantly flying overhead
2. Asian cheese steak sandwiches
3. Joe Webb, the Carolina Panthers backup QB
Wow! Thank you for sharing your photojournalism with us. It's powerful to see these amazing and timely images.

Very dramatic collage - glad to hear it ended peacefully - you never know...

Wow - Peggy you are brave to get right up close to the action! It is such a sad time when people feel so powerless, but am glad this turned out peacefully for the most part.

It would be so nice if things could just calm down all around

Wow, that's quite a collection of images, Peggy! It's been a while since I had a chance to see your pics. Going to get a cup of coffee and work my way backwards through them. Great way to spend some time on a quiet morning. Hope your summer is going well. Hope too, that things stay quiet on the streets near you.
