Heading to the beach for our annual family reunion in just a few hours. This is the McKinley Washington, Jr Bridge that crosses the Dawhoo River and the intercoastal waterway to Edisto Island, SC. This bridge was built in 1993, replacing the wonderful old and very narrow swing span bridge...which often got stuck in the open position. I can remember approaching the old bridge in years past thinking, 'I hope the bridge isn't stuck'. It could have meant a long, hot wait on SC 174 when you were just ready to be at the beach! ☺
