Rain by peggysirk

Rain

It's been all about the rain in the southeastern US over the past week. Yesterday was our heaviest day of rain in Charlotte, NC. The shot of the rain gauge was taken after I'd already emptied it twice over the past week. We aren't in a flood prone area, our biggest threat is from the huge old oak trees. Several trees fell in the neighborhood due to the soggy ground and wind (middle shot). And the power lines were often targets of the falling trees. We were without power for much of the day yesterday. Not the best photos from my phone.

Three Good Things:
1. The sun is forecast to reappear on Tuesday
2. Power company linesmen who brave the elements to make repairs
3. Watching football on a dreary, drizzly Sunday with the yummy aroma of a pot roast for dinner in the oven
Dramatic stuff - poor trees shouldn't have to put up with bad weather when they still have leaves.

I read about your power cut Peggy, so inconvenient but the poor trees never mind the danger to house & human. Will look bare without those lovely trees lining the roads. So much rain must be unusual...I hear the south of France has had a deluge with loss of life.
