@juliedduncan it was very, very cold. Mind you I spent a fair time walking around Death Hollow in sandals in the river for miles on end and up to my navel at points. It was mostly snow run off from the Aquarius Plateau
Wow... it has been some time since I saw Calf Creek Falls. The Escalante Wilderness is one of my favorite places on this planet. I work as a wilderness guide there for 5 years in the early 70s. Did you have a change to follow the Escalante River all the way down to where it joins Lake Powell?
@jonfrank We walked in Box canyon along Pine Creek, then for four days from the Gates of the Escalante to Calf Creek with two days in Death Hollow. We also spent another afternoon walking up to the Lower Calf Creek Falls. It is a great untouched wilderness. One of our leaders was Don Rommes who has documented much of the Fremont art along the Escalante and in Cedar mesa
