Canberra is built on lines. This line runs from the Prime Minister's Office to the Australian War Memorial. If various doors and halls are opened it is possible to see from the PM's desk to the Memorial. It is a reminder to the Prime Minister of the day of the gravity of their responsibilities.
@nikkers I like Canberra. It is one of the few totally planned cities in the world, like Brasillia, and has some quite amazing modernist architecture. It has few traffic lights and the older suburbs are clearly influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright through his studen Walter Burley Griffin. Missed the Guy Pearce remark. Former PM Paul Keating regularly denigrates and refers to it as the "bush capital."
@peterdegraaff Well seeing that Keating is a bush pig it stands to reason that he would call it the bush capital... lol I went there once when I was about 13 , and like it. we had as good as a time as a 13 yr old with parents could have ... lol
Beautiful shot. There is a similar set up in Wash. D.C. The statue of Jefferson in the Jefferson Memorial is gazing at the White House as if to say, "I'm watching you! Remember who you represent."
