Spirit

...an Appaloosa.

Taken using Olympus-35 SP on Xtreme100 and developed in a mix of Xtol (1:2) and Adonal (1:300) at 70F for 12:30 minutes.
I like the sunlight through her tail. Thinking of Appaloosa, she has a lovely tail, most of the Appaloosa around here have rather short tails, with very little hair!

The name Appaloosa is thought to derive from Palouse Horse, and the Palouse is a region in western Idaho and eastern Washington State. The American Appaloosa was developed by the Nez Perce indians here, and it is the official state horse here in Idaho. This is a beautiful image, and I especially like the light through the tail.

@rvwalker The story of the Nez Perce is a particularly sad one. The Appaloosa is quite an amazing breed. It is interesting to know that Palouse is part of their name.
