Tough shooting conditions with the twin problems of over exposure and contrast to overcome. Some people swear by the "sunny F16 rule" and definitely shoot manual and lower your ISO. I prefer to take the shot I want in camera rather than rely on editing, but being able to pull contrast down and shadow up is handy edit in such conditions.
