Look at the ion tail on this bad boy! So cool to actually have a clear night for us last night. We are going out again tonight if it’s clear...and this time with a little planning ahead to find a good foreground hopefully. We lucked out finding this old windmill by chance on a back road not too far from where we live.
Soooo, after a successful go ‘round way back in 2011 and a couple lackluster attempts thereafter, I’m back....maybe. ;-)
Lastly, this place always rocked. So much...
the windmill silhouette is a perfect counterpoint to the comet. at 45mm focal length, you must've had a really clear sky and the comet must be really bright. can you tell me what was the direction you were looking at? it's been very cloudy the last few days but soon as it clears, i'm going to risk the mosquitoes and the heat if i can photograph the darn comet. this is the best shot of it i've seen so far. aces!
