Sorry I agree with your son, I like the simple tones in this one, rather than the colour version.

I too prefer this one. It seems that this is all about tonal contrasts and the sharp highlights on the left of tall the stalks and twigs, and not color. The greyscale conversion fits that idea nicely.

@markp @frankhymus Seeing as my son is half way through his Photography A level I am delighted he knows more than I do! Thanks for your comments I always mean to do more b & w but chicken out - maybe as a result of your encouragement I will be braver!
