Thanks for the memories

The Challenge Cup was on display before tonight's game, a last opportunity to snap it as after two consecutive wins sadly this year we've not managed to retain the trophy! Not a good shot as too many people around to get the right angle but happy memories all the same.

I've got a silly story, Jane to go with photo.
A long long time ago, many decades ago when Widnes still used to play rugby. They went to a place in the far south. There apparently they played a game there and somehow managed to win. The next night, the Sunday the team all came home on a big long coach. It stopped outside my local pub, and the whole team all piled out, in entrrrd the pub. The big one near the ground, The Albion, if you have been to Naughton Park to watch Widnes. Anyway they were carrying this trophy and showing it off.
Next thing it got filled with alcohol and passed around. Everyone in the entire pub got a drink out of it !!!!!
That would never happen now !!
For one thing, never in a million years will the trophy ever be back in Widnes haha. 😂😂

@markp thanks for taking the time to share. How amazing if you were a fan in the pub that day! Never say never... I've heard the chant "Hull FC you'll never win at Wembley" a few times ... everything comes to he who waits... eventually!
