toasted croissant with ricotta and berries by pocketmouse

toasted croissant with ricotta and berries

A delicious after-lunch dessert. :)

Guys. I am like. Stressing. Every day. I'm coming to the end, the very end, of my medicine degree, and the end of my 8 years of tertiary education. I am so so close to the finish line. But there is the small matter of 3 days' worth of exams (in a month's time) that I have to pass in order to get there. And I am seriously, for the first time ever in my university "career", doubting my ability to pass these exams. It's never been this hard, and I've never been so low in motivation and so completely fed up with the process.

I am so sorry that I haven't been around here nearly as much as I should be - I've noticed that I've lost something like 50 followers this last month or so, but I understand. It just sucks having to be committed to something you're just utterly sick of, and yet you have to invest all your time in it so you don't fail exams and prolong the hell even further.

Thank you to every single one of you reading this for sticking by, for taking the time to look at my photos and comment. I appreciate it all :)
Listen, mate. This food look delish, and so is your photo. My recipe to you is: take one day off, completely off. Go to the beach, have a lovely lazy day (preferably with friends or family) drink a lot in the afternoon with loads of food; watch a concert or a movie. Go to bed at midnight and do not get out until 10 the next day. And then start reading, reading reading like hell. You will get there. Play the music you love on the background (preferably classical or not too crazy and distracting). You will make it. I did it - not a medical degree- but two different degrees and the second one not even in my mother tongue. You will make it. Chin up and smile to yourself, and you will do it. Period! And if in doubt, shout, we're here.

Good luck girl, you can do it! And just think of the glorious peace of mind you will have after you pass exams. And you will. Have faith in yourself, and I think @frida 's advice is not so bad either ;-)
And, as always, your picture is beautiful.

Look... as you say yourself... it's almost over. Get through those stupid exams and show them what you're made of, Teresa! And don't sweat about your absence here or your declining number of followers. Do you get that you have over a thousand following you at the moment? Girl, you don't have to worry about anything ;-)
August 27th, 2012
Oh and... yum! Your food shots always give me an appetite.
August 27th, 2012
You're almost finished - don't give into frustration now! I think you should take Frida's advice! Love your shot, but that would be a breakfast for me - not a dessert!

Beautiful photo as always, looks really yummy. I've been a uni student for about 18 years, into my 5th degree now, one of my friends is a doctor, I know how she was stressed before some refresher exams she did a little while back, I've got some idea of how you may feel. You've been fine and passed all the exams so far so its highly likely you'll be fine and pass the next ones too ;-). Hang in there, its only a few more weeks, find that motivation that made you want to do medicine in the first place and give it your best. 365 will still be here if you take a break
August 27th, 2012
It's a long hual but it is worth it. Good luck.
August 27th, 2012
This looks yummy! Sending hugs your way, this will pass! You've just got to stick it out for the time being and hopefully you'll then pass and be free! Believe in yourself, you can do this :) xxx

This photography caught my eye! I love the colors. And you do what you have to do. I wouldn't blame you at all if you took off this until you finished. But what I would do if just take a picture everyday and at the end of the week when/if you're not in school, then you can edit and upload your pictures. But this time of your life is important, so don't feel like this project is more important. You're right there, almost finished! I believe in you. You've come THIS far, you can finish this. You're strong. It takes a strong person to go through 8 MORE years of TOUGHER school. That's HARD! But YOU did it! Make sure you do whatever you have to do to finish. Don't let anything stand in your way, even this project.

You got this! And don't let anything extra stress you! Good luck! :)

Awwww, I know I'm so late with this. I've only just started following you (an oversight on my part!) I feel your pain, I really do. I'm currently doing a distance learning degree as a mature student. I've spent the last 5 years at it and have two years left after I finish my current module. I keep having those feelings of wanting to give up but keep being encouraged by how well I've done already and how far I've come since I started. I'm sure it's the same for you. We all make so many sacrifices that sometimes we lose sight of the end goal but you are so, so close and just think of the accomplishment when you get there. Stay strong but take regular breaks and 'know' you will get there and do really, really well. Massive virtual hugs to you xx
August 29th, 2012
OK so now I've read the rest of the info. You really need to finish this. take a long walk every day, clear your head, then buckle down to it and get help studying with friends and other people who are going through this with you. You need to be with people who are in the same boat as you. You can't give it up now, you really do need that paper to show all of your hard work, even if you decided to take a different turn after you have successfully passed your exams. I'm sure you will do fine, then take a little vacation and find your passion. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

you still have over 1000!!
focus on your real life. when you're a rich doctor there'll be plenty of time to dawdle on 365 whilst your patients go through the catharsis of waffling their aches and pains at you. Just keep nodding and going hmmmmm.
September 4th, 2012
@chewyteeth lol but somewhat awkwardly I kinda don't wanna be a doctor any more (and they're not that rich nowadays you know. :P) hahaha xD
September 4th, 2012
@pocketmouse
They need them in Syria if you're after some excitement. They're uber rich in the UK I'm sure. You wanna be a photographer I bet?

Oh.. I have to show this to my daughter. her ideal comfort food is warm crusty french bread with whole milk ricotta and cherry preserves (but they quit carrying her FAVE cherry preserves at Trader Joe's and NO other brand has measured up as of yet...)
