Today we saw something growing! Crazy! We've had positive temperatures and a lot of melting over the past couple of days, but just this past weekend we were in the -20s, and the -30s towards the end of last week, so it hasn't been very warm for very long! We were very surprised to see these little flowers while out today. I can't ever think of having seen flowers growing in February before. I wonder if they'll manage to survive or if they've somehow come up too early for their own good. I'm not sure what kind they are, and my citizen science app hasn't been much help. They look a little like Bloodroot, which is an early flower in these parts, but I'm not sure based on the shape of the leaves. If they manage to survive, maybe I'll get the chance to tell later on!
@beverley365 We have snowdrops as well and I love them too! I usually start seeing them about March, I think. My app suggested snowdrops as a possibility for these ones, but they didn't look quite like snowdrops to me-- I thought the leaves seemed different and the stems looked darker and stockier.
