We went for a short walk in a local park and saw so many northern cardinals!
People often put out birdseed along the boardwalk in Riverside Park, and the little birds don't let it go to waste. Today there were lots of cardinals; some tree sparrows; some black-capped chickadees; and lots of red-winged blackbirds, but they're always there in numbers. We also saw our first robin of the year (way up in the trees), and one little red squirrel. We'd never seen so many cardinals together before and didn't know what to properly call the grouping (eg: a murder of crows, a bevy of swans, etc), but we decided it should be "a conclave of cardinals." Apparently we guessed correctly and conclave is one of the terms!
