Oh no! by princessleia

Oh no!

As I was checking the robin's nest this morning in our maple tree, I found a different type of nest right next to it. Hornets! Not good news but it is still a pretty nest :-)
And you even captured one at the entrance! I've had to battle a couple of these over the years but they are beautiful and incredibly sturdy nests.

The bee guy identified this as bald faced hornet, not really a hornet but more closely related to yellow jacket. To have it professionally removed costs $200 but they are known to go for the human face to protect their nest. Yay! Hope you won your battle, @sbolden , without getting stung!

Very cool shot! But be careful! You don't want to mess with those guys.

Great shot! Reminds me of a few years ago when I bumped my head into a wasps nest. My daughter is still shocked about the language I used when under attack of the wasps.
