I think this junco and its mate live in this tree in our front yard. How do you know if it's male or female? I'm just guessing this is male since it does not seem to mind having something on its forehead :-)

Great photo. I had read once that body posture can help determine the sex (?) - males generally hunch down while females are more straight and alert-looking.
