Mosquito orchid by pusspup

Mosquito orchid

Without extensive research I think that this is a native mosquito orchid. It is only about 8cm tall and the flowers only a few mm in size. Challenging to shoot with no tripod or dedicated macro lens on hand! Not easy to find either!
wow I'd never heard of these - hit google and I'm instantly in love :) lovely capture with your handicaps ;)

Yes one of the mosquito orchids. Acianthus ? I have photographed and kept records of the orchids I could find in Far East Gippsland, Victoria. It is a thrill to find one as they are so small. I wonder if there are 2 pollinators on one of the flowers, one on the stem and one on the labellum?

@ethelperry thanks for the confirmation Ethel. I have forgotten way too much botany to answer your question. I'll have to see if I can find them again and take a macro lens!

It's a petite flower and has an unusual look to the bloom. Nice capture.

So well captured -- great job with that unique looking little orchid, and no macro at hand!
