This is the old town hall of Oudewater , a small town in Holland. This one is build in 1588 after the destroying of an older one by the Spanish troops.
In 08-21-1968 the building was destroy again , now by fire. Gladly the old and ancient building drawings and descriptions where saved so they could rebuild it . The restorations was ready 09-27-1972. The family names of the coats of arms in the facade are unknown.
This is what I imagine Holland's buildings look like. Very beautiful. It is amazing that they retained the ancient building drawings! It still looks old. Nice shots!
Very Dutch architecture (or they remind me of towns like Arras in
N E France - sorry!). There are one or two buildings in Winchester where it's also hard to see the roof front view as the facade is elevated.
@pyrrhula I think that you've captured them fine. The facade of the buildings just extends outwards beyond the roofline so it's not easy to see the roof from the front.
Wonderful that the ancient drawings where kept and that the building could be restorated to the origional drawings. Holland has some great historical buildings.

I like to read also that history of the building, it makes an imagination run.
Fine post.
