A house with a story. by pyrrhula

A house with a story.

Like all old houses there is a lot of history in it.
This house , original build in the 17 th century and restore in 1969/1971, was in origin a horse shoe/ black smith workshop and house. As the street was very small the ``travalje `` http://365project.org/pyrrhula/365/2012-08-02
was place to the house. The horse has to stand with his head into the building. In those day`s the workshop of a wagon maker was always in the neigbourhood . In this case on the other side of the street . The big round stone, ( pic. right above ) a wheel stone, reminds on it . Around the stone the black smith made the iron strip needed round the wheel.
As farmers have strong working horses the ``travalje`` has to be build solid

What a cool house! You're so blessed to have such history. I was reminded of what my city lost during the Civil War when we visited Charleston, South Carolina. It was wonderful to walk through the old homes rich with history.
