Topping the willows by pyrrhula

Topping the willows

If you once have top the willow you `ve to do it for the rest of his life every few years. If you don`t the branches grows to big and will destroy the tree by strong winds. In the old days there was a great use for the branches
Beautiful, clear photo.

Lovely capture, Pyrrhula, and interesting information about the trees. Our sky is pretty gray looking these days, too.

Typical Dutch landscape, a stream with willows along them. In the old days they used willow wood for clogs, brooms, gates. Nice shot!

Love it, like a Dutch painting. Here we call it 'pollarding', Ferry. Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollarding - it shows trees in Zeeland, before and after!
