ASuch a huge field of this vegetable -- I would hazard a guess that it is one of the brassica family , possibly Sprouts ? ( ready for Christmas !! )

Those are Brussels sprouts, Pyrrhula - I planted a few of them once in my garden and I had some lovely sprouts to eat, but my wife doesn't like the taste.
