Fooling the nature by pyrrhula

Fooling the nature

Not only fooling the climate but also the seasons. The climate by heating , The season by lighting.
Some grows need a day light lengten for blooming . So they do. For an example : you Poinsettia with Christmas won`t be there without this technique .
Very clever and nicely presented.

In Zuidoost Drenthe staan veel van dit soort kassen. 't Is er 's nachts bijna even licht als overdag.

@gijsje Men heeft het hier al over lichtvervuiling en moeten ze `s nachts afgeschermd worden.

A lovely collage to show us the extent of the glass houses to aid and force plants to grow when the outside conditions are not favourable !

Haha...you have posted a shot of greenhouses too......

This is a great view of the greenhouses. It is interesting to know how many plants must be "forced".

very neat collage!

Beautiful set of shots in this collage, Pyrrhula. Our farmers use plastic 'glass' houses to get an early crop but if they use them in summer they will kill all the produce with the heat.

A great collage, I sometimes wonder if we would appreciate things more, if we could only have them in their true growing season :)

Interesting to fool nature and I think the weather is also fooling us lately!

@merrelyn We have that choose and possibility .We can buy , once a week, a box with local produce food products. Often with recipes what you can do with it. Delivered at home.

@sangwann Our farmers use them too. Mostly in early spring to have a quicker start.

Glastuinbouw, ik heb het waar wij wonen niet gezien. Zal wel veel licht afgeven 's nachts.

Nice collage showing the extent this practice is now carried out. I sometimes think forced plants do not have the same flavour as the ones that grow naturally in the right season

@pyrrhula Pleased to hear you have the box scheme with the fresh veg. My husband is a partner in a similar scheme in our village/area and we have a 3 polytunnels on our farm which we grow products in. They are not heated (other than by the sun) and the reason we grow in the tunnels is to protect the vegetables from the wild, wet elements of the weather we get.

@shirleybankfarm We to. but also for an early start. Heated they/we do, beside the sun, by the horse manure they use.
