An old ``slapers`` dike. by pyrrhula

An old ``slapers`` dike.

The old dikes still remain. Through the whole country a spiderweb of old dikes (we call them `` Slapers`` - Sleeping- dikes) are there to discover and to drive. (carefully)
What are the piles of branches?

@overalvandaan @gijsje Schapen grazen over de gehele kant. Ik zal wel een foto van ze doen.

I love the green. I have almost no green where I live. Last week I stopped at a restaurant that had just a small amount of grass. I walked on it - slowly, savoring it!

Nice shot. It looks a lot like what we call a dam or levee. It's a long way to the water. Does it very get up high enough to need a barrier?

An interesting landscape, the fence looks like it might need some repairs or the sheep will end up on the road :)

Your countryside reminds me of parts of Lincolnshire, very flat, with lots of farming, and dikes!

@bruni Grasses and weeds. @vernabeth We are never far from water. This dikes are not in use anymore. We have build a big new one instead. @merrelyn Last Autumn I found some on the road . Drive them back.

Lovely and peaceful looking 😊

I guess the old ones still have some use or is it that to take them apart is not worth the trouble? I see that animals can graze on them so that must be why the stay in tact. Nice shot!
