life is n`t a fairy tale. by pyrrhula

life is n`t a fairy tale.

Before any bulb plants they have to organize and build a water supplay system .Necassary as there was n`t any rain last month. We`ve build up (and still improving) a country wide fresh water store for those dry seasons .

t Is hard werken voor de bollenkwekers. Hier in Drenthe zijn ze op verschillende plekken al aan het beregenen.

You are right- farming is not easy whether you're growing flowers or produce. A lot of my friends who farm near me have irrigation systems too. I like how this shot shows what they look like- with a few random bulbs straying into the water piping. I also like the figures in the distance- they put the human perspective into the tulip industry.

So interesting to see the workings that go into growing flowers.

Very impressive watering system

A really beautiful vista. I see a great difference in the colour of the soil from that we have here which is reddish brown. As for irrigation, no plant will survive in Malta will survive without it.

Terrific shot that tells a story.

A beautiful shot. The figures in the distance give a great sense of the size of the field. It seems amazing that it is so dry now after all the rain at the beginning of the year.

Oh my. The technical side of things is never as beautiful as the result. I never would have imagined this, but it makes sense. This is big business.
