This is as close as I am going to get to open water for the next couple of months.
It serves as a good reminder that our lakes will thaw out eventually and I'II get to photograph real loons again!

@kathiecb I agree...Temagami is beautiful .... but the summer will bring black flies!!
Saw this on flashback Friday, and it got my curiosity up. My father's family is from Manitoulin and I miss that area.
@lynnb you're right about the black flies in Temagami but they still don't distract from the beauty of the area. The canoe possibilities more than make up for the flies and in the fall there are no flies.
Actually Manitoulin Island is four hours from Temagami,.

@radiogirl Did you marry an Islander? My maiden name is Baker. And you're right...the black flies don't take away from the beauty of the area...I do miss the real lakes and trees of Ontario.
No I didn't marry an islander we just love Manitoulin and go there often!
