This was a hand held shot I took this morning and was surprised that I could actually identify a crater on the right side of the moon. The blurred diagonal is a branch that was pretty close to me. I like the blue background as opposed to the dark sky.
this is really something. Question I often have about moon shots: is it cropped? When I take pictures of the moon, it's always an itty bitty circle in a vast sky. I study the exif info from people's shots and don't see how they get such big moons.

I took this moon shot from inside my window, you should use a zoom lens, 300 or larger, and F11, iso 100. Hope that helps, give it try.
