I realize that in the photo I posted yesterday the head frame is difficult to see so here is what it actually looks like.
This was a old sliver mine which probably closed down before 1920. It was used to raise the ore from the shaft below up to the top of this building where at one time there existed tracks for the ore cars to transport the ore out for processing. It's amazing that these structures still exist almost a hundred years later. Although rusting and falling apart they present an eerie beauty to the landscape.

I love these old industrial buildings, with the passing of time they acquire a certain raw beauty and seem to become more a part of the landscape. Nice work, Kathy.
My goodness, I'd be in rust heaven!! I like the high key and snow effect- how it's separated the head frame from the background and really brought out all the colors in the rust.
So nice that this part at least has remained - that rust shows so well with the snow - beautiful contrast. Really nice composition and can now visualize yesterday's shot much better.
