This old house back in the bush is quickly being reclaimed by mother nature. I have been exploring possibilities in LR converting photos to black & white each with a different emphasis. This photo emphasis a variety of values, including black and white which processed in LR I find has given me a much stronger image then my original photo which was taken in color.
I'm finding using LR both challenging and rewarding.
This is for Flash of Red February - Day 1.
Critiques are welcome.
Thank you for comments and favs on yesterday's photo "Cabin at the ski Hill", its greatly appreciated.
This is fascinating the way you look like you have a big mouth where the snow gaps over an opening. I love LR now but I had problems in the beginning. I still have a lot to learn. I really hated PS but getting so I like that too. Keep at it you produce so really nice pictures.
Gorgeous edit Kathy. Do you have Silver EFX Pro? It plays nicely with LR5, lots of presets and adjustments. I'm shooting in b&w all month too. LR takes my raw images and puts the color back in, so I'm going to be using SE to do the b&w edits.
Choosing black and white for this shot brought out a wide range of tones and added to the drama of the collapsing building through the contrast of the dark and light areas. I also like how it highlights the snow.
What a fascinating shot - so much to take in. The lighting adds a bunch with the shadows and it's a perfect subject for the b&w treatment. Like that bit of snow up there in the window for a bonus.
What an intriguing picture. I find myself trying to look past the snow to see details of the structure that might tell what it once was. It almost looks as if the ground has shifted beneath it. Excellent work in LR, a program I haven't a clue about but you are obviously becoming very familiar with.
Wonderful light and textures. I have LR but find it irritating that one apparently has to store and organize one' s pictures there as well as process them. For now I'm concentrating on learning to use Photoshop CC, which I like more the more I use it.
