I don't know the exact name of this little guy but they had this "northern sea" topic in the zoo where there were lots of animals/birds that live at the northern sea in Germany.

We have similar here in NZ, but a slightly different colour - we call them spur-winged plovers, also known as lapwing, as @carolmw has said.
