Today was work at home, go to dentist, go into the office. I never intended this snap of my new dentures to be my shot of the day but it's all I got round to taking and it pretty much sums up the day for me!
My bridge malfunctioned and now I'm stuck with falsies and steradent unless I can find £6000 for titanium implants...A sad end to a 30 yr saga!!!
Ah Rich I feel for you there. Teeth problems are the worst. Are they seriously quoting you six grand for the implants? Can't they build a bridge off just one? Teeth aargh hate em. Nothing but trouble.
@fueast well, it looks like a bridge too far! 3 implants, 2 grand a piece! I'll see how I get on, at least I can pull these out every now and then to scare the kids!
OMG! lol I just hate things to do with teeth......bad experiences live with you forever.......I think you've been well over quoted cos I have 3 together as an implant and it cost £700 about 5 years ago. Anyway i think @grecican Quin is right about the most disgusting post here! lol Most entertaining :-)
@Cherrill this all started when I had a cycling accident 30 years ago! so yeah, I've been living with it for a while. The "quote' was from my dentist, he wouldn't be doing the work so maybe he's got his facts wrong...Mine are all front teeth though, might make a difference?
I hate teeth issues. I deal with them, too. This is just a fact of life for some of us. I've known people to have what's left pulled just to not have to deal with them anymore. You've documented this very well. An excellent shot and I love the editing. ;-)
@rich57 Mmm always best to get a second opinion I guess....my 3 are the 123 from the main front 2 if you get my drift....I had been so self concious of a dead tooth for 20 odd years, so I splurged some savings with a wonderful lady dentist I've found......although I was a nervous wreck it was the best money I spent! Hope you can find a solution. Teeth and eyes are always troubleosme bits! lol
@Cherrill haha it's the eyes that freak me out the most!!! One more question, was it painful having the implants put in? I'm a bit of a jessy when it comes to dental pain!
@rich57 Can't be any more than me Rich!!! It isn't an instant procedure cos they have to measure and mould the right shape, then put the sort of stump into the gum onto which the teeth fit. Best thing is to ask for someone tog o through it all with you but amazingly no, no pain, but mega injections to numb you up. Shall I come and hold your hand! LOL
I'd get a quote from an implantologist. If you get a quote and don't like it, then at least you won't regret not finding out. You could possibly have a three unit bridge supported by 2 implants, it all depends on how much bone there is after your extractions. The upside is that you could always put it on hold - if you find out *now* that it's practically possible then it's unlikely to be too late in another 10 years. However if you find out now (from an implantologist, not your dentist) that it isn't feasible (because of bone levels, or rather lack of) then you needn't stress about it for the next few years, and humming and haaring about whether to do it or not! Do it!
Ha..!! Don't go dragging me into all this malarkey.. I'm queasy enough as it is about teeth and eyes.. Would prob end up throwing up over you if I was watching lol
Oh dear! I had to read your commentary to work this out. I thought it was a pan with ham and garlic in it boiling away for some feast you were having. Sorry to hear all about your bad toothy luck xx
@andycoleborn You just made this even more grotesque, haha!!!
Rich, follow Elin's advice and consult with the proper doc. Implants are very expensive but they might not be as much as what your dentist quoted. Dental work is scary and traumatic but, in general, a lot less painful than we imagine. If you can afford it I'd say go with the implants. You will not regret it. (I don't have any but know people who do) Best of luck.
@grecican LOL!!!
sorry for your pain, Rich. Teeth and a necessary pain in the arse. I hate the dentist and will NOT regale you with my sad dentistry tales. Suffice it to say, I feel your pain. . .
@deens LOL! @rich57 just laughing that you asked @lluniau tkhat question after that very technical post!! I'm off to the dentist tomorrow - the practice has a specialist implantologist and he drives some VERY expensive bikes and cars on the back of people's gnashers! I had a feeling that they charge about 1 - 1.5K per implant - still a lot of money!!
wow - pictures and dentisty - there's no bounds to this 365 business. liking your picture rich - when you get your eyes done you can have another glass with them in....
wow, that POV makes it look quite devilish! My Dad had a bridge for 20 or so years and got implants about 4 years ago. He's still raving about the fact that he feels like he's got his own teeth back! But scaring the kids is always a good option too - when we had lunch in the garden, he'd get his bridge out and say to one of us "do you mind cleaning those when you go back in the house?" Yuck!!
Had to revisit thismorning to finsih reading the comments! lol You are so right.....I bet you never thought in posting such a picture you would get such interreaction...it's great isn't it? Seriously hope you have had some help on making a decision :-)
Wow Rich, quite the pic and post! I am always waiting until the last moment to visit my dentist. I understand your dilemma and the pain factor! Wish you the best!!
My god - what I miss one night away from the computer! Sorry about the teeth business - that's an unfeasible amount of money, can't be right. But hey, without this, you'd never have come across the poop guy - there are no words.
also, i'm really sorry to hear bout the teef. :(
@rich57 Richard - sympathies.
1) argh Yikes the quote.!
2) argh Yikes the dentures!
Like this.
