They get everywhere those pigeons. This was good because even though I've been in Traflgar Square umpteen times I'd never realised there was a statue of George Washington outside the Natoinal Gallery till I saw this pigeon perched on his head! As I was putting my camera away I noticed another guy taking the same shot as me. We exchanged wry smiles and went on our merry ways, as did the pigeon as soon as the shoot was over. Probably had another important engagement to fly to...
That's a nice sculpture of George! His home, Mount Vernon, is not too far from where I live. I'm sure that pigeon had a busy schedule of other sculptures to sit on.
@cstewart I never knew it was there and must have missed it when I visited. As a native Virginian, I had to look it up. Here's what I found. From Wikipedia: "On the lawn in front of the National Gallery are two statues, James II to the west of the entrance portico and George Washington to the east. The latter statue, a gift from the state of Virginia, stands on soil imported from the United States. This was done in order to honour Washington's declaration he would never again set foot on British soil.[4]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trafalgar_Square
I actually took the same picture when I was there 10 years ago lol.. I believe pidgeons should be more respectful to Mr Washington..lol Cool shot, Rich!
