Named after a former Prime Minister (and grandfather of Bertrand Russell), this is on Marchmont St, just off Russell Square.
"This pub didn't start off life as a pub, but as a whisky merchant. Buyers would come to the long bar, which was then divided into cubicles, to sample the goods prior to purchase. Although no longer specialising in Scottish wines, the owners have put the establishment's long bar and huge cellar to good use". There's a great choice of draft beers available.
It's number 4 of "The Five" to me, a pub-crawl starting from King's Cross and ending up in Russell Square.
Very lively - I like it!
