Paperclips by richardcreese

Paperclips

A pack of plastic coated paperclips, sheet of paper, tripod, reversing ring and a thirty second exposure.
Cool idea. Educate me, Richard. Do you have a filter or anything like that on your lens? Can you use a reversing ring with a 18-135 lens? As you can tell, I am really a novice!

Not sure about the 135 lens as the shorter the lens the more magnification you get. Reversing rings are very cheep on e-bay, so it's worth a try.

Love the colors of your paper clips, ours are more basic primary colors. This is a cool shot.

Richard, I have another newb question: why a 30 second exposure? What effect did that give, that couldn't be achived with a standard exposure time? I like the shot, so am curious if that made a big difference.

Using a reversing ring gives you no control over the appiture so it was at its smallest of about f36 also it was taken in a darkish room using only natural light, so it needed 30 seconds to get the correct exposure.
